This vignette was selected because of the possibilities to adapt the dance and the music to endogenous pieces known to be part of the American folklore of the period. For this piece our guest choreographer Christina Higgs selected a "Soldier's Joy," a well known tune from the period. She brought the idea of staging the scene as an impromptu square dance, with music arranged and played live by Laurie Marsell. Mrs. Higgs also coordinated her casting, supervised the costuming and co-directed this vignette under the direction of Hector De Leon.
